The Powis family purchased The Babbacombe Hotel, formerly The Sefton Hotel, on January 5th 2015 and immediately started a programme of refurbishment.
Work began immediately by addressing the entrance lobby and reception. These areas were very dark and on removing the suspended ceiling in the lobby, adding new lighting and redecoration it is now a bright and inviting space. The reception area was predominantly dark wood which has been removed and the area redecorated in a light seaside green, the reception desk is now a beautiful quartz work station with modern lighting.
We have also started a total refurbishment of the bar lounge area, knocking through to the old pool room to create a large and bright space, with spectacular views across the bay. Work on this will be finished by the end of April 2015.
Most of the corridors and stairwells have now been addressed and redecorated in the signature sea green which will be predominate throughout the whole hotel.
Five rooms are now complete on the second floor, decorated in light greens and greys, with new patio doors installed in the sea facing rooms which now slide open allowing patio tables and chairs to the placed on the private balconies over looking the sea. New white bathroom suites have also been installed and bathrooms re-tiled.
We now have another 6 rooms completed on the second floor and the stairways and corridors throught the second floor have been decorated and new lighting installed.
The public toilets in the function room have been totally refurbished with new fittings and fixtures and look amazing!
The bar lounge is now finished, the room boasts a new quartz bar, new carpet and has been decorated in a light sea green to match the reception area. It is a great place to sit and relax with a latte and watch the world go by and if the weather's fine there is access to the gardens where there is ample seating.
We have also completed more bedrooms to a high standard and began painting the outside of the hotel.
During 2016 all bedroom refurbishments were completed and the restaurant saw a complete redecoration along with new tables. January's closure this year sees the creation of an extra ground floor bedroom, new public and disabled toilets and a new bar layout in the Show Bar creating a larger seating area by the stage and dance floor.
With all major refurbishments now complete we look forward to our guests enjoying many happy holidays here at The Babbacombe Hotel.
